Privacy Policy
Effective 3 October 2026
The short version: TVFin collects nothing for its developer. It has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no server of its own, and the developer never receives any information about you or how you use the app. The app connects only to the Jellyfin server you tell it to use, and what it sends there is described below.
Who this covers
This policy covers the TVFin app for Apple TV (“the app”). TVFin is an independent app and is not affiliated with the Jellyfin project. Your Jellyfin server is run by you or by whoever gave you access to it, and what that server does with your information is governed by its operator, not by this policy.
What the app stores on your Apple TV
To keep you signed in and remember your settings, the app stores the following on the Apple TV itself. None of it is sent to the developer or to anyone other than your server.
| What | Where | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The address of your server, and of servers you have connected to before | App preferences | To reconnect, and to offer recent servers |
| Your user name and user ID on that server | App preferences | To show who is signed in |
| The sign-in token your server issues | The Apple TV's Keychain | So you are not asked to sign in every time |
| A random device identifier created by the app | App preferences | Jellyfin requires one, so your server can tell this Apple TV apart from your other devices |
| Playback and subtitle preferences | App preferences | To remember the choices you made in Settings |
Your password is never stored. When you sign in with a password it is sent to your server once, which returns the sign-in token above.
What the app sends to your server
The app works by talking to your Jellyfin server, the same way Jellyfin's own apps do. It sends your sign-in details when you sign in, the sign-in token and device identifier with each request, and it tells the server what you are playing and how far you got. That is what lets your server keep your place, mark things as watched and show the Apple TV in its dashboard. All of this goes only to the server you chose. If you connect over HTTPS, it is encrypted in transit.
What the app does not do
- It does not collect personal data for its developer, and does not sell your data. The only place it sends anything is the Jellyfin server you chose, which may be run by someone other than you, as described above.
- It contains no analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking code, and no third-party SDKs.
- It does not connect to any service other than your Jellyfin server.
- It does not use your location, contacts, microphone or camera.
- It does not track you across apps or websites.
Apple
Apple may collect information about app downloads and, if you have agreed to share it, crash reports and usage data from your Apple TV. That collection is governed by Apple's privacy policy, not this one.
Removing your data
Choose Settings → Sign Out in the app to forget the server connection and remove the sign-in token from the Keychain. The list of recent servers stays so you can reconnect; deleting the app from your Apple TV removes it and the rest of the app's preferences. Sign out before deleting the app, because the system can keep Keychain entries after an app is removed. To remove information held by your Jellyfin server, such as watch history or the device record, ask the server's operator or use the server's dashboard.
Children
The developer receives no information from anyone using the app, including children. What the app sends to the Jellyfin server you chose is described above, and what content a profile can see is controlled by the parental settings on that server.

Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Because the developer receives nothing, a change would only describe new on-device storage or what new features send to your server.
